A2P Messaging Campaign Setup Guide

In this article, you will learn how to register or setup your campaign messages with Twilio. We'll try to simplify the process and we'll guide you through it step by step for maximum effectiveness:
Step 1: Logging In and Accessing A2P Campaign Screen
Begin by logging in to your Twilio account. Once logged in, head to the main dashboard. Click "Messagin" on the left and click the "Regulatory Compliance" dropdown where you can find the Campaigns option as shown below.
Click the "+ Register a Campaign" button to continue.
Step 2: Choosing A2P Campaign Use Cases
There are various use cases for A2P (Application-to-Person) campaigns. For most users, the "Low Volume Mixed" option is recommended.
Step 3: Setting Up Messaging Service
- Messaging Service: Select the "Create new Messaging Service" option.
Step 4: Campaign Description
Copy and paste the provided information below into the description field. This description outlines the types of messages you'll be sending to your customers, including reminders, confirmations, estimates, and invoices.
- We send out appt reminders, confirmations, and thank you text messages. We also send out estimates upon request and invoices after jobs are completed.
Step 5: Sample Messages #1 & #2
Copy and paste the sample message below into the appropriate fields. Make sure to personalize the messages by inserting your company name, your first name, and business phone number where required.
- Hi Mary, just a quick reminder that <insert company name here> has you scheduled for an appointment tomorrow. We look forward to seeing you then. <insert your first name and business phone # here>
Step 6: Message Content Checkboxes
Please make sure to check each checboxes as shown above If your campaign text messages will include an invoice, estimate/proposal link or a phone number.
Step 7: End-User Consent
Option #1: Website Lead Form Consent
Copy and paste the consent text below into the appropriate field. Make sure to insert your website to complete the description.
- We have a lead form on our website <insert website here> where visitors can click a button to submit a request for an estimate. Within the form that opens we have some consent wording at the bottom of the form along with a checkbox. The wording says: "By checking the box and clicking SUBMIT below, you’re giving us permission to communicate with you via a call, text or email at times using automated technology. We promise to only communicate when necessary for things regarding your quote request, reminders or an occasional special offer. No purchase is required. Plus, if you ever change your mind and you no longer want us to contact you, reply END or STOP to any email or text message to immediately opt out. Standard text rates apply."
Option #2: Email Consent
Copy and paste the consent text below into the appropriate field.
- We send out an email to customers asking for approval. Within the email is a button for the customer to click on. On the webpage they get sent to they can click yes or no for consent. When someone does give consent or if they do not give consent we store their consent response in a pdf in their profile screen. If they do consent then next to their cell phone number the "allow" checkbox is then checked.
Step 8: Opt-In Keywords and Messages
Insert the opt-in keywords (Subscribe, Start, Optin) that users can use to opt in. Also, insert the opt-in message template (You are now opted in. For help, reply HELP. To opt-out, reply STOP).
Once every bit of information is inserted, proceed by clicking the "Create" button on the bottom left corner.
Please take note that the registration request is still subject for validation so It may take couple of days/weeks for the request to be approved depending on the volume of request that Twilio is getting. Basically the submitted info are being reviewed by actual humans so it does take time.
By following these steps, you can set up an effective A2P messaging campaign that ensures proper communication with your customers while maintaining compliance and respect for their preferences.
